Derby County have set an opening date for the brand new restaurant at Pride Park Stadium.
The Rams have said that the new bar and eatery – called The Yard – will open for business in the south-west corner of the stadium on Thursday, August 10 – two days’ before the club’s first home game of the new Championship season against Wolves on Saturday, August 12.
Last week, the Derby Telegraph reported that work was coming on apace to create the venue, which is in part of the ground formerly occupied by the Funktion Fitness gym.
Now, as well as confirming the opening date, Derby County has released more details about the venture.
According to the club’s chief operating officer, John Vicars, The Yard – which is named after the former railway yards on which the stadium now stands – will offer something special to both supporters and general lovers of good food.
The Yard is being fitted out to a high standard
He said: “We’re really excited about this project. The Yard will be a top-quality place to both eat and drink – and not just on match days.
“It will be open every day, from 10.30am right through to 11pm, serving brunch, lunch and dinner.
“Personally, I have wanted to see something like The Yard open at the stadium for the last decade.
“Apart from the odd exception, there is a still a lack of high-quality places to dine and go for a drink on Pride Park. Up to 10,000 people work on the business park alone – but there is still a distinct lack of choice.
The bar and restaurant will be open every day, serving brunch, lunch and dinner
“The Yard will fill a gap in the market – not just on match days but all year round.
“We are confident it will be a success. The Yard will serve high-quality food in a great environment. The fact that it is easy to park here should also make it attractive to customers.”
According to Mr Vicars, on match days, 60 of the 200 or so covers at The Yard will be for the club’s hospitality guests. The remainder will be open to supporters for eating and drinking on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Yard is a joint venture between the club and global hospitality company firm Delaware North.

A year ago, the two came together to form Club DCFC with the aim of delivering even better value and service for supporters.
The Yard project has the full support and financial backing of club chairman and owner Mel Morris.
Mr Vicars said: “Many clubs outsource their food and drink offer. However, we decided to form a joint venture with Delaware – working in partnership with them to ensure the service and food our guests receive are of the highest quality.”
A new website for The Yard – www.theyardderby.co.uk – is due to go live this week, which will allow customers to start booking tables.
The menu is also in the process of being finalised – but according to Mr Vicars the theme will be “modern British” cuisine, freshly-made using locally-sourced produce.
