With the end of 2017 fast approaching some people will be thinking about their New Year resolutions.
For some, one of those will be to find a new job. Despite the uncertainty caused by Brexit the good news is that many businesses in Derbyshire are continuing to recruit.
And according to Derby JobCentre Plus, there are currently hundreds of jobs available in the city and county in a variety of sectors.
And a number of companies and organisations will be looking for new staff in the New Year. Here’s five of them.

According to JobCentre Plus, the firm needs around 100 people to work at its Matthew Walker puddings factory at Heanor Gate.
Matthew Walker is the world’s oldest Christmas pudding maker, having started production in 1899. And while Christmas has now passed, the firm will be recruiting in the New Year for production operatives and cake decorators.
Meanwhile, the Two Sisters ready meals factory in Normanton, Derby, is also looking to fill around 100 roles. The factory makes barbecue, ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat poultry products.
EAST MIDLANDS AIRPORT
East Midlands Airport is set to hold its annual jobs fair
Derby JobCentre Plus is currently working with the Castle Donington airport to recruit passenger handling staff.
But there will be many more different job opportunities on offer when the airport stages its annual recruitment fair at the end of January.
The airport has been staging this event, called the Big Job Fair, for a few years now.
At the 2017 event, which took place in the check-in hall of its passenger terminal, more than 350 jobs were up for grabs with a number of different companies based at the airport.
They included check-in agents and jobs with shops, bars, restaurants, hotels and the airport itself.
Derbyshire Constabulary will be taking on more staff in 2018
Derby JobCentre Plus has said it will be working with the police next year to help fill community support officer roles and call centre positions. Meanwhile, a number of positions are currently available on the constabulary’s website.
Aldi will be recruiting in Derbyshire in 2018
Aldi’s recruitment drive never seems to stop as the supermarket chain continues to open new stores across the city and county as well as extending existing ones.
In February, the firm is due to open a new Derby store at the College Retail Park, which is creating around 40 jobs. Those jobs are currently available to view on Aldi’s careers website.
