Occasionally, the Derby Telegraph gets feedback from readers saying that they could do a better job – well, now is their chance.
That’s because an opportunity has arisen for a senior reporter position at the Siddals Road business.
This year, the Derby Telegraph was named Newspaper of the Year at the Regional Press Awards – and the business is now looking to add to its award-winning team.
The Trinity Mirror-owned business is looking for a talented and passionate individual who is able to provide high-quality, accurate content for its newspaper and website.
As well as writing stories, the successful applicant will provide live coverage of news events for live blogs, shoot video, audio and take pictures when out on jobs.

The firm said: “You’ll be self-starter, a great story-getter and know how to write sparkling, engaging copy.
“You’ll need to be a creative thinker, be bursting with ideas, like hard work and get a buzz from breaking news. You’ll also need to know how to use social media to engage with readers and promote your stories.”

Suitable applicants will need to have an NCTJ-accredited journalism qualification and be able to use their skills to generate content which “engages local audiences and meets the standards set by the business in terms of quality, consistency, accuracy and legal compliance”. A full UK driving licence is also required.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and a range of company benefits.
