Around 150 jobs look set to be created at a business park near Burton after an automotive parts supplier announced plans to expand.
Spanish firm Grupo Antolin, which supplies interior trim systems and components to major vehicle manufacturers, is set to grow its presence at the Barton Business Park, off the A38.
The firm currently occupies 70,000 sq ft of space at the park – but it has now signed a 15-year lease to expand its operations into a newly-built 113,000 sq ft building, adjacent to its existing premises.
The unit will be built on the business park’s last remaining plot, which was purchased by development company St Modwen from Prologis in March.

Work to prepare the site has already started and the new building is due to be completed in May.
The business park is already home to a number of major companies including Bombardier, Pirelli and a huge Argos distribution hub.

Ian Romano, development director at St Modwen, said: “Grupo Antolin has been an occupier at Barton Business Park for 10 years and its expansion at Barton reinforces the strength of the automotive industry in the Midlands, which is a key market for us.
“It’s important to St Modwen to help occupiers grow at our developments and we have worked with Grupo Antolin to create a facility to suit their needs for the foreseeable future.”
Robin Hills, general manager at Grupo Antolin, said: “Since relocating from Bristol in 2006, the Barton facility has been awarded new and replacement business over a number of vehicle programmes and reached its full manufacturing capacity.
“Grupo Antolin has committed to a major investment at the Barton facility to take a new the lease on the adjoining plot from St Modwen to consolidate future growth.
“Initially, this will create an additional 150 positions within the business with further vehicle programmes planned in the next few years.”
Meanwhile, St Modwen has submitted plans to build more than 100,000 sq ft of industrial space at another of its commercial parks near Burton.
The firm has submitted an application to East Staffordshire Borough Council for three units at Burton Gateway, off the the A38, near Branston.

The plans follow the successful letting of the 87,000 sq ft first phase unit at Burton Gateway, let to global logistics experts Hellman Worldwide Logistics on a 10-year lease.
Once completed, Burton Gateway will cover 64 acres, making it one of the largest warehouse developments in the Midlands.

Mr Romano said: “There is a lack of new employment space across the Midlands, and we are building speculatively at a number of our key developments to satisfy the growing need for high quality and well-connected space.
“With outline planning consent for up to 1 million sq ft of commercial business space, it is our intention to speculatively build this next phase to accommodate demand from both national and local occupiers.”
Subject to planning permission, work is expected to start in January, with the new units available from August.
